A remarkable wine showing the magic of the aging process. Those shaded fruit characters, often criticised in the past, are nowhere to be seen. (JH)
Distinctly Coonawarra with attractive blackcurrant fruit and lightly herbal, medicinal, tomato plant nuances. Graceful in style with syrupy pastille notes and soft textures. (NB)

A towering monument to Barossa cabernet, built on dark, ripe fruit and load-bearing tannins. A celebration of the tanned muscular varietal character that old vines in warmer climes can bring. (NR)
proved to be a catalyst for the subsequent land rush for terra rossa soils.
The wine inspired the 1982 Bin 820 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz, the 1990 Bin 920 Cabernet Shiraz and the 2008 Bin 620 Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz. It is is past its best with fading fruit, very frail tannins and fractured acidity. Sharam s Block and Block 20 cabernet sauvignon. Some good bottles may be holding up. Rare.
1967 BIN 7 COONAWARRA CABERNET SAUVIGNON KALIMNA SHIRAZ ««««« Drink now to soon.
Penfolds Bin 7 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon Kalimna Shiraz belongs to the famous trinity of 1960s Coonawarra show wines (rounding out the 1962 Bin 60A Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz and the 1966 Bin 620 Cabernet Shiraz). The wine is two-thirds Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon and one-third Kalimna shiraz. It enjoyed a very successful wine show career, but it never achieved the legendary status of 1962 Bin 60A. Tastings in recent years reveal it to be just as resilient and impressive as its sibling.
Medium-deep crimson. Fresh polished mahogany, leather, liquorice and roasted walnut aromas with dried herb notes. Concentrated and supple but also quite developed with fresh sweet leather, barnyard, sandalwood, seaweed, roasted nuts and espresso coffee flavours. Fine loose-knit and chalky/sappy textures and long fresh acidity. Rare, with only 500 cases made.
A wonderful wine that stands up against the greatest of them all, including Bin 60A (JH)
Amazing old wine that develops cherry, rose oil, pipe tobacco and herb aromas with air. At first it was on the dry side and then it became sweet, pliant and round. (JR)
The scent of the stables and burning piles of autumn leaves in the distance. Red/black fruits, liquorice, woodsmoke and the whiff of cigars . (NR)
