The 50-Year-Old Rare Tawny is a symbol of Penfolds heritage. The wine captures the legacy of past and the aspirations of present winemakers, spanning almost a century of fortified history in one blend.
The Great-Grandfather Rare Tawny was created in 1994 to celebrate Penfolds 150th anniversary. It is only ever released in limited numbers to ensure the age and quality of the style is never compromised.
The Grandfather name dates back to 1915, when an oak cask containing the finest blend of Tawny was set aside for the exclusive use of the Penfold family. This wine was known as The Grandfather due to the age of the oldest Tawny in the blend.
A contemporary take on Australian fortified wine the 2015 Vintage Fortified is a bold refined and rich expression of the Penfolds ‘House Style’.
With compelling quality and provenance, Penfolds Father Grand Tawny is a tribute to over 170 years of Penfolds winemaking excellence. A blend of outstanding wines matured in seasoned small oak casks, achieving a minimum average blended age of ten years.
Since 1985 Penfolds has been identifying the best barrels of Club Tawny and reserving them for additional maturation. These reserve barrels are then skilfully blended to create Penfolds Club Reserve Classic Tawny - with an average age of more than five years.
For nearly 60 years Penfolds Club has been one of Australia's favourite choices of Tawny. It is blended from more than 200 components to offer the complexity and consistency that is expected of the Penfolds 'house' style and has an average age of three years.
