"Pale colour. Pure camomile, verbena, lime, lemon curd aromas with hint yeasty notes. Well composed wine with classical pure round lemon, lime flavours, fine lacy textures and fine crystalline acidity. Finishes long and minerally. Bittersweet notes give lovely vinosity. Very good volume despite the moderate to low alcohol. Drink now to 2030. 11.5% alc"
"The 2022 Bin 51 Riesling is talcy and floral and lacy on the nose, with green apple, a hint of pear skin, lanolin and saline acidity threaded throughout. This has a generosity and plushness to it, all contained within a web of fine phenolics. This is pithy and über fine. So good. 2022 in the Eden Valley was excellent: an extension of the cool and even season experienced in 2021, quality is high and nuanced detail is inherent in these wines. Drink it now, or cellar it for a decade or more. Up there as one of the best Bin 51s we've seen – 94+ points."
Very pale with iridescent lime green hues.
Intensely aromatic: freshly squeezed Tahitian lime juice, feijoa, lychee, potpourri, bath salts, white blossom, hints of honeydew and a suggestion of curry leaves and spearmint.
Mouthwatering lemon/lime citrus, lemongrass, mineral talc like acid, washed river stones, green apple skins. The finish is pristine, with a lovely sugar/acid tension.
Winter rainfall was plentiful, ensuring optimal soil moisture profiles leading into spring. Conditions during spring and summer were significantly cooler than average with no summer heatwaves recorded. This is something of a luxury for white winemakers, allowing for an extended slow ripening period leading into an orderly harvest. The extra hang-time allowed for terrific varietal flavour and aroma development, with the retention of racy natural acidity. A tremendous vintage for riesling.

Bin 51 was created in the 1990s as part of the evolving Penfolds white wine development program. The first vintage in 1999 was labelled Eden Valley Reserve Bin Riesling. The evolution of Penfolds Bin 51 Eden Valley Riesling opens another chapter in a long history of Penfolds involvement in winemaking from this variety.
