Autumn and winter were dry and cool, significantly below long-term averages in McLaren Vale. The record-low rainfall levels prevailed through September to March, with some relief seen only in January and February.
Temperatures during spring and early summer were warmer on average which prompted a surge in grapevine growth after a protracted start.
The season then progressed phenologically with grapevines moving from budburst to veraison on par with the long-term average, producing promising quality and yield.
