CLIMATE Mediterranean.
LOCATION Three kilometres (two miles) north-west of the township of McLaren Vale, South Australia.
SOILS Sandy loam.
RAINFALL Average rainfall is 550 mm (22 in).
IRRIGATION Supplementary irrigation is provided.
VITICULTURE The vineyard is slightly undulating with both north–south and east–west running rows (mostly north–south). Elevation is approximately 120 metres (394 feet) above sea level at the highest point. It is all Shiraz fruit with the exception of two small Cabernet Sauvignon blocks.
GRAPE VARIETIES Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
FRUIT PROFILE This vineyard contributes fruit to St Henri Shiraz, Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz and Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon.

The vineyard was established by Lindsay Booth in 1976–78 and was acquired by Penfolds in 2000. It is 33 hectares (81 acres) in size. More recently (in the 2000s), the vineyard was substantially replanted to high quality shiraz clones and rootstocks.
