Penfolds is proud to unveil its 2014 Icon and Luxury Collection. Articulating an authentic voice of fine Australian wine, this exceptional array of wines celebrates Penfolds 170th anniversary of winemaking history in impeccable style.

Released annually, Penfolds Icon and Luxury wines are instantly recognisable amongst wine collectors, with a strong, distinctive individual style and wonderful track record of cellaring performance.

Featuring seven outstanding wines spanning four vintages, this year's release comprises the 2009 Grange, 2010 Bin 170 Kalimna Shiraz (limited edition), 2011 Yattarna Chardonnay, 2011 RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz, 2011 Magill Estate Shiraz, 2012 Reserve Bin A Adelaide Hills Chardonnay and lastly 2010 St Henri Shiraz.

Led by the 2009 Grange, which is an approachable follow-up to the 2008 vintage. This year's release is similar in weight to the 2002 vintage and contains more premier fruit from the McLaren Vale and Clare Valley.

Crafted from 98% Shiraz and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 is captivating, tempting and alluring, in true Grange style - a wine that is elegant and voluptuous on the palate, yet poised and harmonious.

Whereas fruit for the Grange is multi-regional and sourced for its intensity of flavour, RWT Shiraz is made from single-region Barossa fruit primarily selected for its aromatic qualities. The 2011 is strong, forceful and demands decanting, belying of its vintage and Barossa in every sense. Barossa fruits ascend on the nose, whilst on the palate fine, persistent tannins court blue and black berried fruits, sensitively encapsulating a sweet mid-palate.

The exceptional vintage conditions in 2012 for white wine are also a highlight of this year's release, resulting in the return of the Reserve Bin A Adelaide Hills Chardonnay after one year's absence. Crafted from hand-picked fruit that is whole bunch pressed, this is a complex and well-structured wine with great intensity of flavour - a benchmark Bin A from one of the great Adelaide Hills vintages.
