Part of the recent Penfolds Bin release, this riesling is something quite special. It well and truly deserves its Reserve title. Just beginning to show some developed character, there's plenty of time left for this pure lime and citrus drop. The '05 vintage will go down as one of the better riesling vintages, so a bottle or two in the cellar would be a very safe bet.
Pick of the Week Reserve Aged Release Riesling 2005

Colour is pale straw and brilliant. The nose suggests this has been in a time warp, having hardly changed from its lively lime aromas. There is just a hint of toast but it's still very youthful. Zingy lifted crisp acid on the palate really sings, with the effortless length and persistence a feature. Keep it for at least 15 years. 96/100
Top Shelf Reserve Bin Aged Release Riesling 2005
John Lewis, 31 March 2010, The Newcastle Herald
Five years' bottle age has helped bring forth this superb white wine from the latest Penfolds Bin Range releases. The wine is pale straw-olive green in the glass and has enticing scents of lemon butter and toast. Elegant grapefruit flavour comes through on the front of the palate and mineral, and lime marmalade and croissant characters join in on the middle palate. Pleasantly sharp steely acid shows at the finish.
